Volunteers permaculture/biodynamic garden Portugal

Hello, we are Cento e Oito, a small intentional community in the southwest of Portugal. We are with nine adults and three children from different countries in Europe. It is founded on the belief that people are free beings sharing their unique characters and innate gifts with the community and the world.

We are partly self-sustaining with our beautiful garden and food forest. We do gardening on basis of both the principles of permaculture and biodynamic agriculture. We share our beautiful place between the hills of Alentejo with a multitude of insects, reptiles, amphibians, birds and other animals, such as the wild boar and our chickens, cat and dog. The region we live in is one of the least populated ones in Europe.

We are looking for two volunteers for our garden. From this date on we start with preparing our winter gardens, as we can grow vegetables here for twelve months a year. Your work will be mainly consisting of sowing, preparing the beds, planting, harvesting and weeding. As a volunteer you will have a bed, food and work three hours a day. You will be cooperating with a skilled biodynamic trained gardener. In our community we speak English, so a proficiency in English is needed.
We strongly invite people that are both interested in, what you could call, ‘Mediterranean’ gardening and living in a community. We ask for a daily exchange of 7 euro and a commitment to stay at least for one month at our place. After two weeks we will have an evaluation and decide if there is a match between you and us. Then you can also ask for an extension, which means, you can stay longer than one month if there is a match.
