Additional farmer for Pahkla Camphilli Küla

pahklack

As an inclusive community, Pahkla Camphilli Küla provides a safe living environment for people with special needs, where daily life takes place through a variety of activities. Our team looks for an additional farmer, who also finds passion for our special, stony land, and is interested in bio-dynamic thoughts.

Living and working together since 1992, we have strived to create a living environment that promotes the skills and abilities of our villagers. Villagers are involved in domestic chores, farm work, candle making, weaving and gardening, giving everyone the opportunity to feel valued, needed and appreciated as a member of the community.
Our community is home to 20 people with special needs, who live together with staff and international volunteers in five family houses.
The heart of our community is our farm. With around 100 hectares of land, a herd of 20 milking cows and oxes, we strive to take care of our land and our people by cultivating the land and seeking self-sustainability.
If you are motivated to develop a farm, that is based on an inclusive working approach and you have the patience to deal with
limited resources, we can offer you a rewarding place to grow!

While the care and development of our milking herd is covered quite well by the current farming team, your main tasks would be:

 Being responsible for the grain- and hay land
 Integrating villagers in the daily works and developing new ideas/strategies for villager integration respective their individual needs and preference
 Maintenance of our tractors and machinery, helping to collect donations and
acquire new machinery
 Help with general repairs on the houses, stables and the grounds
 Project development
 We are looking for someone, who is ready to take up responsibility, but appreciate the co-working and co-deciding with others.

Working time

We are looking for a community member, who also shows interest in living in an inclusive anthroposophically inspired Camphill community.
The working days follows the rhythm of the community and demands of nature – while it is important for us to take care of each other. Regular holidays, days off, team-meetings and seminars are a part of that.

What else?

 Our community life is a living organism. Depending on your skills, interests and
desires, there is the freedom to also join other areas of work especially in the
cultural life (music lessons, woodwork, theatre etc.).
 As with many social institutions money slows our growth down the most, but
also maintaining the balance between agriculture as a meaningful area of work
for our villagers and the need to organise the farm efficiently and economically
profitable is a challenge. So we are looking for someone with vivid vision, some
creativity and frustration tolerance.

Requirements

 You are able to till fields, maintain and repair machines and get involved in construction projects
 You have the necessary sensitivity and social competence to live and work with people with special needs
 You are an open-minded person that is flexible and works solutionoriented
 You like to integrate others into your work
 You want to work in a bio-dynamic farm and have respective knowledge
 You have a class B driving license
 Knowledge of German and/or English. Furthermore: openness to learn the Estonian language, as it is our main working language

What we offer

 a young, international and valuedriven team, who wants to cocreate meaningful community living and work
 we offer a working environment, where you have a freedom to craft, but you will not have the whole farm on your shoulders
 flexible work schedules, aiming to take individual needs into account
