"I started at Warmonderhof with the idea: this is the start of my connection to the beginning of everything. Because everything starts with agriculture right? And I want to be part of that."

"Here you’re trained to be someone who can do almost anything. Arable farming seems to me to be the most fun. I like being on a tractor. In the holidays here at Warmonderhof, I've already ridden one."

"After secondary school, I worked on organic farms abroad for three years. So I was used to leading a highly active life. I can't sit in school from nine to five. And here at Warmonderhof, theory and practice are also split fifty-fifty. That's perfect for me."

"Looking out of the window of my student house here at Warmonderhof, I can see everything that happens in the fields. If I see anything interesting, I just hop on my bike. Because I want to learn and I enjoy being out there. That’s the unique aspect of living, working and learning all in one place. That’s not something you can do at any other agricultural college."

"In your first year, you get a taste of everything. I never expected it, but I discovered my love for fruit farming here. "Fruit cultivation is the most difficult profession in farming because fruit trees are very fragile. It’s amazing watching them grow and making sure they survive to a very old age."

"The small-scale set-up, the atmosphere, the people: Warmonderhof is a place with a soul and it felt good right from the start. I‘d done my research on agriculture and come to the conclusion that conventional agriculture is not the way to go so I wanted to learn how I could apply the principles of circular agriculture. Warmonderhof was the ideal environment for that."

"I never thought I would be living on my own at such a young age. But I love it. We do everything together. Here at Warmonderhof we’re one big group of friends running a business together. Whether a cow has broken free unexpectedly, or we need to speed up harvesting, everyone’s ready and willing to help. You build solid friendships quickly here."

"You study a wide range of theoretical subjects at Warmonderhof, for example, botany, soil science, grassland management, and animal husbandry skills involving small farm animals and cows. Students in the years above me tell me that the massive amount of information falls into place as the course progresses. Which is quite a relief! Fortunately, I can always turn to the lecturers or fellow students if I have any questions. Everyone’s willing to help."

"This school is based on anthroposophical principles. It’s a way of thinking that appeals to me: in nature, everything is connected. I want to become an organic farmer and grow crops in a natural way. During this course I’ll learn what’s involved in this."

"In horticulture I did stuff like pre-sowing, harvesting, cleaning and preparing products for the market. In arable farming, I performed weed control and learned to work with different tools and machines. In animal husbandry, I milked the cows, fed the calves and did all kinds of other jobs, such as operating the shovel."

“I’ve always been interested in agriculture. I also followed an agricultural-oriented course at secondary school. I liked the living-working-learning concept. One of my favourite practical classes is farming. For my external internship, I'm going to do something involving chickens.”

Mirthe-Bekius-Weidestal-800x533

“I love how everything in agriculture forms one whole: from the soil to growing, harvesting and selling on the market. I actually think that farmers should go a step further and add taste knowledge to their range of services.”

“I milk the cows here at Warmonderhof every day. We have lessons in the morning, but I like the practical sessions the best. I think I learn more from them than in the classroom. I’m not the type for theory lessons. I always do my homework the night before I have to. Thank goodness for coffee!”

“My future lies with goats, sheep and arable farming. Because I really like driving tractors. I want to farm in harmony with the soil, the plants and the animals. I want to introduce more nature into farming. I’m convinced that biodynamic farmers are the farmers of the future.”
